While Santa's reindeer are busy getting in shape at the North Pole before their annual flight delivering toys to all the good little boys and girls, 270 Santas rode into Owosso. It's part of their training, at the world famous Charles W. Howard Santa Claus School in Midland, the oldest in the world.

Preparation for next year's $44 million project on I-475 is leading to more lane and ramp closures beginning on Monday night. The Michigan Department of Transportation is continuing joint repairs and resurfacing on I-475 from Carpenter Road to Clio Road, along with repaving ramps at the I-75 and I-69 interchanges.

Unburied fetuses, other bodies found in second funeral home

About 36 fetuses and infants have been removed from a Detroit funeral home, the second facility where remains have been improperly disposed. Jason Moon of the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs says the remains were found in three unrefrigerated boxes.

State officials are warning hunters to avoid eating meat from any deer taken within five miles of Clark's Marsh in Oscoda Township. The marsh, which is near Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport, has high levels of potentially cancerous PFOs, which likely poisoned the deer and tainted any venison from them.
