Louis Singleton receives water filters, bottled water and a test kit from Michigan National Guard Specialist Joe Weaver as clean water supplies were distributed to residents in 2016 in Flint, Mich. People can drop off bottled water from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Frederick Douglas Center, 1001 Indiana Ave. Volunteers will then drive the water to Flint on Sunday and pass it out to residents in need.

Athletes who have accused disgraced gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar's with sexual abuse have filed two new lawsuits Thursday against the International Federation of Gymnastics, as well as USA Gymnastics, the United States Olympic Committee and Michigan State University. Scores of women and girls, including Olympic gymnasts Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney and Gabby Douglas have publicly said they were abused by the former USA Gymnastics team physician, who is already behind bars.

On a special night at the GVSU Lacrosse Field, the Grand Valley State Lakers dominated from start to finish in a 22-3 defeat of the Northern Michigan Wildcats in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Friday. Many of the fishermen on Friday are looking forward to next weekend when it is projected to be even warmer. Despite the cooler than normal temperatures however, hundreds of anglers could be seen getting out on the river on Friday hoping to reel in a walleye or two.
